General Manager

Connie May is a native Houstonian with a fierce passion for life and sports.  Growing up, she excelled at softball, basketball, and volleyball, as well as in track and field. Oddly enough, she even won a National Championship in air hockey along the way. The strong competitive nature that was instilled in her at an early age remains with her to this very day.

Connie became the General Manager of the Scrap Yard Dawgs in 2015 when they began their inaugural season. When asked about her position as General Manager, Connie said, “Being the GM of the Dawgs is a labor of love that means the world to me. I’m so lucky to be able to impact the lives of athletes of all ages and from all backgrounds.  I enjoy working with our professional athletes in a way that improves the fan experience through community outreach, and I focus on our commitment to improving the standards of professionalism and pay for the players. Oh yeah...and winning the 2017 Cowles Cup was one of the greatest experiences of my life!”

Connie passed on her love of softball to her only daughter Meagan May Whitley, who went on to become an All American at Texas A&M, in addition to playing on the 2011 USA National Team. Connie began coaching when Meagan was 9 years old and still remains active in coaching today.  In 2011, she founded the Texas Fastpitch Club (TXFC), which runs the Scrap Yard Dawgs travel teams. Connie says,  “I find it fulfilling that, as an organization, we focus on coaching and mentoring in a way that helps younger athletes find opportunities to attain a college education.” The organization currently has a 16U and 18U team that travel around the country year-round competing at the highest-level in fastpitch softball tournaments and college recruiting events. Prior to forming the TXFC-Scrap Yard Dawgs, Connie also coached for the Texas Rage, the Texas Impact Gold, and the Sudden Impact. Connie is proud to have built multiple teams that have helped hundreds of players attain their goals of receiving scholarships to play softball at colleges and universities across the country.

Prior to joining TXFC Dawgs and Scrap Yard Sports, Connie’s many years of professional experience as an IT Director and CFO in the Construction and Oil & Gas businesses—in start-ups and beyond-- taught her the benefits of thorough preparation, hard work and perseverance.
