SYD to Participate in Austin “PLAY BALL” Event Hosted by MLB and Austin Mayor Steve Adler
Conroe, TX – March 9th, 2018 – The Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization announced today that they will be participating in the “PLAY BALL” event in Austin, Texas on March 10th, 2018. Major League Baseball is linking with RBI Austin and Austin Mayor, Steve Adler, to host the event for Austin-area children.
The Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization will be sending several representatives to assist with the event. The day will be broken out into two sessions where participating kids will run through “PLAY BALL” stations providing fun baseball and softball activities. All stations will be “fun-focused” and include informal baseball and softball centered drills that include a home run derby, running bases, bat and ball games and much more. The focus of the event will be to highlight the many ways the game can be played and to support RBI Austin as well as the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area.
The list of volunteers that will be helping with the event include the Mayor of the City of Austin, Steve Adler as well as the Founder and Director of RBI Baseball, Matt Price. In addition, the event will include the CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin, Misti Potter.
Representing the softball community in addition to the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization will be Destinee Martinez who is a former Women’s National Softball Team Member and a 2013 NCAA Women’s College World Series Champion. She will be accompanied by the first female Rawlings Golden Glove recipient from the Louisiana State University, AJ Andrews.
Major League Baseball will have two representatives in attendance including the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer for the MLB Renee Tirado, and the Vice President of Youth Programs, David James. USA Baseball will also be represented by their Senior Director of Sport Development, Sean Campbell.
The “PLAY BALL” event will take place at the Delwood Sports Complex in Austin, Texas with the first session running from 10:00am-11:30am and the second session from 1:00pm-2:30pm.
