Skylar Sirdashney Verbally Commits to Wisconsin

11/08/2017 1:21 PM - Scrap Yard Internationals is proud to announce that Skylar Sirdashney has committed to the University of Wisconsin-Madison! Skylar is a third baseman and catcher currently attending The Woodlands High School just north of Houston in The Woodlands, Texas. Sirdashney was born in Hazlet, New Jersey, but moved to Texas when she was four years old. She boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA, loves science classes, and is heavily involved with the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) club at school.

When asked about committing to Wisconsin, Skylar said, “Not only did I choose Wisconsin because of the abundant resources, incredible coaching staff, or the gorgeous campus, but the fact that Wisconsin chose me first; going out of their way to recruit me. On top of that, I've always had the dream of ‘going away to college’ and with Wisconsin being 1200 miles away, it completes another dream of mine-pursuing a well renown education and having the privilege to play the sport I love at the next level." Skylar’s parents, Heather and Noel Sirdashney, are equally as thrilled about her decision, saying, “We are delighted that Skylar has committed to play softball as part of the 2020 recruitment class at the University of Wisconsin. The University of Wisconsin offers a great academic and athletic program on a beautiful campus. She is so excited to be a future Badger and we are thrilled to watch her follow her passion!”

General Manager for the Scrap Yard, Connie May, voiced her excitement about Skylar’s decision saying, “Skylar is an incredible athlete and student and our first Wisconsin commit. We are excited for her future as a Badger and beyond.” Coach for the 16U SI team, Tommy Colonnetta, could not be prouder when he heard the news of Skylar’s commitment. When asked about her softball future as a Badger, Tommy said, “UW got a good one. Skylar is a player that makes everyone around her better. We saw that in day one with her and our team. Her hustle, effort and willingness to get better every practice, every tournament is contagious. She can be successful in four different positions in college.”

Congratulations Skylar and the Sirdashney family!
