Scrap Yard Fast Pitch to Visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore
Conroe, TX – March 8th, 2018 – The Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization announced today that they have scheduled an international trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore in cooperation with USA Softball. The primary goal of the trip is to help increase familiarity with softball and teach softball skills as a means of growing the game and introducing girls around the world to the many opportunities that the game of softball provides.
The trip will kick off on March 12th at the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Malaysian leg of the trip was all made possible when ISKL’s Director of Athletics and Activities, Ryan Naughton, invited the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization to teach their coaches and players in all aspects of the game.
The scheduled events include all-skills clinics for the middle-school and high-school students as well as lectures to 85-100 players about the game of softball. The Scrap Yard representatives will also work directly with the ISKL Coaches during games and in hands on practice sessions to share their knowledge on various coaching strategies that engage and teach players and fans.
The second leg of the trip will take place in the small neighboring country of Singapore at the Singapore American School (SAS). The Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization was invited by the Softball Coach at the SAS, Jenny Harter, as an adjunct trip that would complement the nearby Kuala Lumpur events.
Ms. Harter is a Houston, Texas native who has been the High School softball coach at the Singapore American School for two years. Ms. Harter has a great softball background to her name dating all the way back to winning a youth National Championship.
Ms. Harter’s main goal in inviting the Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization to Singapore was to help teach her students what it was like playing softball at the highest level and about how softball mindsets and strategies might help them overcome challenges on and off the field. The Scrap Yard Fast Pitch representatives will be working directly with the SAS Coaching staff to help improve their understanding of the game and to give them new insights on how to train young athletes. In addition, the staff will be hosting several clinics with the SAS players to help improve their skills.
The Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Organization is very honored to undertake these activities and looks forward to future opportunities to grow the international knowledge and skills of softball.
