Scrap Yard Fast Pitch Inks First Round of Signees

Conroe, TX – April 27th, 2018 – Scrap Yard Fast Pitch, LLC (SYFP), an independent professional women's softball team, will open their inaugural, 33-game season on June 8 at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex, located just north of Houston, Texas.

The SYFP 2018 roster includes the “Million Dollar Arm” Monica Abbott (Tennessee), along with Ali Aguilar (Washington), Taylor Edwards (Nebraska), Kasey Cooper (Auburn), and Hannah Flippen (Utah). Each of these players will also represent the United States of America this summer, playing in the U.S. and Japan.

The SYFP roster will also feature three star players from Team Mexico, including Brittany Cervantes (Kentucky), Dallas Escobedo (Arizona State), and Anissa Urtez (Utah).

Rounding out our international group of players are Britt Vonk (California at Berkeley), who has been a part of the Dutch National Team since 2008, and Nerissa Myers (University of Louisiana-Lafayette), who will compete for the first time with the National Team of Great Britain.

The 2018 Scrap Yard Fast Pitch team is comprised of some of the top softball talent in the world.

In the circle, an experienced pitching staff will include Lauren Haeger (Florida), Cheridan Hawkins (Oregon), Morgan Foley (Indianapolis), and Rachel Fox (Texas A&M), all of whom have put up impressive numbers throughout their collegiate and professional careers.

Backing the strong pitching alliance for SYFP are speedsters Bailey Landry (LSU), Kayla Winkfield (Mississippi State), Olivia Watkins (Western Kentucky), and Morgan Zerkle (Marshall). Each of these athletes have set program records on the bases at their respective schools and look forward to continuing to display their flash again this season.

To complement speed on the bases, SYFP has also signed the big offensive bats of PAC 12 Home Run Record Holder Katiyana Mauga (Arizona), MJ Knighten (Nebraska), and Brianna Cherry (University of Louisiana-Lafayette). These three players combined for more than 140 home runs in their collegiate careers and will look to send some dingers out of the "Yard" this summer!

Rounding out the roster for the 2018 season are the Stokes "twins," Christian Stokes (Kentucky) and Kiki Stokes (Nebraska), who will be defensive staples for the team this summer. The two all-around athletes boasted well over a .900 fielding percentage in college and the pros and will provide veteran leadership on the roster. In addition, the Stokes sisters are sparkplugs in the huddle and leaders on and off the field.

The 2018 season will start on June 8th at Scrap Yard Sports Complex. Stay tuned for the full 2018 schedule and more exciting news from Scrap Yard Fast Pitch!
